Jon's Story of a 1966 Mustang Fastback

Jon's 1966 Mustang Fastback

Emergency repair on Jon's Mustang's upper control arm. It was cracking at the spring perch bolts!! We found this while figuring out excess movement of the spindle/hub. The excess movement turned out to be fried wheel bearings, which he fixed.

Here's pictures of the backside.

Welding it up!

One temporary repair!!

A suspension kit is en-route!

Alright I think that I know what you want, a story right??

The car is an A-Code 1966 mustang fastback originally a light silvery blue, then dark blue, and now flat black primer ( I will get to that later) but otherwise bone stock, well not exactly the exhaust is modified to some sort of glass packs. I believe that they are 12”, but I am not sure they were on the car before I bought it, also the rims, intake manifold (old school TORKER) have been changed, as well as the carb it has been swapped back to a motorcraft 4100 4 bbl 530 cfm carb. Got the car from Brian Covey, and for those that know him really well, you know that he had two mustangs, and yes I own both. Haven’t really done much to the car it is in a really slow state of restoration. As for now all that is done is the interior, a complete upgrade to gt pony (deluxe) and the inside has been repainted to original specs. The outside is a different story. In 2003, November to be exact I had a very close encounter with a lifted dodge ram dullie. It was totally destroyed from the doors forward. They only thing that survived was the pony corral in the front, the engine survived too , but needed some new belts and a water pump. Between myself and a couple of friends, we spent about three weeks (being unemployed at the time really helped, not to mention the insane quantity of beer consumed) and we completely stripped the parts car that I bought, and restored the fastback to its former glory.

That is the story behind the car, nothing to special but a lot of time has been well spent fixing little things, and in my case one really big thing, trying to get it all back to stock and just looking totally bitchin’.
