Roofing the Model A
Spent a day putting a 1951 Packard roof onto my Model A. I haven't finished it up yet, needs a little more trimming, but looks pretty good! I'm still having issues with the hydraulics (brake and clutch, not lowrider hoppin' stuff!)

Lately I've had the Challenger bug again, so I've been trying to get the electrical done in the car. I figure a few more hours and I'll have it done, then maybe move onto some more body work, and get a fresh coat of primer on it, maybe even paint! I think I'd like to do a 440 again, that makes 3 times I've changed my mind since the original 440 spun a bearing.

Al's 1955 Chevy Gasser
Progress has been made. Next is wiring!

Front end is painted!

The Pumpkin Smash @ Altamount Raceway

Always fun as usual! No pictures really, you gotta be there yourself.

Norm's 1964 Chevelle Two Door Wagon
There and back again... the three weeks up to Jimmy's Old Car picnic!!

This year was a crazy year for everyone!

Here at the house before Jimmys my room mate Norm decided to get his 1964 Chevelle Two door Wagon going for the Picnic.

Did he make? What all did he do? Check the pictures and see how far it came!!

Jimmy's Old Car Picnic!

Can you find three 1964 Chevelle two door wagons in this photo?

This set of pictures were taken by Bill in San Francisco! Here's what he's got to say about these pictures:

Bill's awesome 1969 Dodge Coronet in the park. First car show appearance!!

Some of the Saints, that's Shea's '41 on the left.

Rare (I'm told) Merc pickup.

Great old Tempest was parked next to me. Sleeper city -- aluminum headed big block and a four speed.

My new favorite thing is old racing vettes. I love the low-key vibe, just slot mags and plain white wrapper.
I assume it's brutally fast.
(Me too, Bill. I'm actually currently obsessing over owning a '58-59 Corvette, no hood, jacked up a bit in the front, chrome loop rollbar, and a big block Chrysler. Hot Rods to Hell was recently re-released on DVD, and I think it warped my mind!)

Speaking of brutal... Blower and dual quads should do it. NOT a low-key vibe.

Sueded with tasty pie-crusts. Note cross-ram.
Excellent rake.

This is an original SoCal car, not a clone, and they had the book to prove it. Ran at Bonneville last year. Bit blurred, sorry.

California Hot Rod Reunion
By far one of the coolest car show/events that I've ever been to. Alcohol injected, nitro burning funny cars and front engine dragsters! Saturday night they fire all the Nitro burning cars, line them up on the track, and fire them off!!

Here are the pictures Justin's buddy Greg took on Sunday, still waiting for the ones from Saturday. Greg has a 1200 horse '65 Nova that boogies down the track doing an 8-something. He's a cool guy, too!

Big Daddy Don Garlits fires up the Swamp Rat!!

SOHC engine in a FED!?!

She was the driver of the funny car "Heartbreaker" in the background!!

Justin and I were standing the 600 foot mark when this thing exploded into flames!!

Pure unadulterated hot rod sensory overload goodness!!

My 1931 Ford Coupe
Stuffing a rattlecan rebuild 440 HP into it, and some other necessary clean up!!

This is one shot 383! Leakdown test on the old 383 revealed than half the cylinders were at 80% leakdown, and the other half at 50%. Surprisingly, when performing the leakdown the air all came out of the crankcase which means the rings are toast, but take a close look, every exhaust valve whacked every piston, severely!!

Always replace your timing chain. One time when it was running poorly I pulled the timing chain cover off and the chain had skipped several teeth! Either that, or shifting a stock bottom end 383 at 7000 rpm is detrimental to piston to valve clearance. Something along those lines....

Anywho, I'm not sure how it even ran, or why it didn't bend every single exhaust valve when they collided with the piston!!

The Model A Coupe wearing some new primer, '32 shell trim, and another big block Chrysler!!

Last Turlock swap I scored front and rear fenders for it for $70!! Model A Mike down the street hooked me up with the brackets and running boards for it, so I might try out fenders! I don't know what it is about the fenders, I love the stripped down hot rod look. As Pete said, maybe I just need to try them out so I can know for sure.

Never seen a bright red big block Chrysler before, I think it looks good, but it definately isn't resto Hemi orange or turquoise. I got this 440 I got from another local car guy Terry. It's an HP 440, factory rated at 375 horse, date coded for a '68 car. The guy he got it from did a nice red spraybomb rebuild on it. I added a set of Cal Custom valve covers and Edelbrock Torker, and used the headers and carb off the 383. I had a Mallory distributor lying around from the 440 that was in the Challenger, but I scored a Vertex Magneto of the eBay that I'm going to run.

Bill's 1969 Dodge Coronet
Bill says:

Finally!
My buddy Shea finished rebuilding the axle, and the Coronet is back on the road!

The whole thing was rebuilt, wheel-to-wheel. New everything: drums, shoes, studs, springs, seals, bearings.
For the first time since buying the car I have the full compliment of wheel studs.

First car show appearance ever!

Photoshop for radical stance:

Way to go, Bill it's looking great! Looking mean with the bumblebee strip and the black steelies with chrome nuts! This has to be one of Chrysler's best musclecar body styles. Can't wait to see it in person again!!

Al's 1955 Chevy Gasser
Coming along very nicely!!

Al was in the middle of 'glassing in the supports for the tilt front end.

Tunnel rammed 454. I don't know all the details, but I'm sure Al will fill me in.

Matt's Newest Addition: 1939 Ford 1/2 ton
All original, too!

Justin runs 12.40s at 122 MPH!!
More motor and chassis tuning should bring the ETs down to mid to high 10 second passes. Then he can start adding the nitromethane that he spec'ed his motor to run, and go even faster!!

Lots more pictures and videos coming, as soon as the files my way!!

My 1957 Chevy Truck

No PCV is bad. Blew out my oil pan and intake manifold gaskets.

I used this opportunity to put a Performer on it, had a Torker on it, and single plane intakes are not what a heavy ol' truck needs.

Now she's running pretty decent. Still need to time it!

Hauled home my first car part in the new rig!

One brand new 1970 Dodge Challenger windshield!

Scott "Snot" (Not Me!) Henderson's 1964 Chevy El Camino

So, now that my truck is going, I sold my Elco to another Scott, who has proceeded to put another front clip on it. We just have to put a new differential in it and it's out of my hair! Yay!! Lookin' good dude!

Jeremy's Super-Lowrider 1951 Chevy Truck

Buzzin' on the Truck!! The '57 Chevy is coming along well, fixed the rotted lower hinge mount. Pretty much a runner now, still needs a throttle pedal. All the glass is in and the fuel system is done.

One patch panel installed. Still need to dress the welds, but it will look good. Still need to do cab corners because they're rusted, and the rocker panels because they're crushed!

Had to tear the Model A down, it had been running like crap, and no other diagnostic and repair fixed. I had already checked all the basics, ignition, carb, timing. Good thing I did!

Timing chain had jumped because it was so loose! Two teeth I think? This is why you don't cheap out and re-use old stuff because it "looked" okay!

Got it back together tonight and she runs pretty hard, nothing like a big block in a tiny car! Still needs to be tuned up, but feels good to have it running good again!!

My First 1968 Dodge Charger
I found some more old pictures on my hard drive of my first Charger, so I converted them from a Paperport scanner file to JPGs so I could share them with everyone. The Paperport scanner obviously sucked.

(Sorta!)

Task Force Redneck style! It's got a wire for an accelerator until I find the right shit.

There I go!!

I'm a goof, but I'm having fun!!

My great friends Dan and Steve!

Here is a picture of my Dad's hot rod with the new wheels. After another gallon of ATF it finally made it to the full mark and was able to back the car out into the driveway for the first time under it's own power!

JOHN'S BURGER CRUISE IN 1.27.07

Norm brought his camera with him down to Johns Burger last Friday, and took some cool pictures.

Matt has cut out and replaced some rusty metal around the windshield in his lil' Nova. He has been busy with some filler work lately. Keep up the great work, Matt!!

Jason has come a LONG way with his Mustang!! You can see old pictures of it in the rides area.

'Mopar' Bryan's 1966 Dodge Coronet

Bryan has got a 1966 Dodge Coronet with a built up 400 big block Chrysler, 727 automatic.

More pictures soon?

My Trip to the exhaust shop!

Look at that rusty under-carriage!!

Livermore Muffler is pretty good, its the only exhaust shop I go to for all my stuff. Only $150 to put exhaust on my Model A, and $125 or so for Steve's Dart a whileback.

Relic's Home Brew Aluminum Casting

Last night our search for a “thrifty” way of melting aluminum to cast new club plaques led us finally to a reusable method. We “repurposed” an old oxygen bottle (empty for many years) into a makeshift furnace.

Sure it may look a little like R2D2, but it puts out one hell of a flame. After warming it up to operating temprature it melted an usable amount of aluminum in about 15 minutes. We didn’t time the warm up as it was interupted but I would venture a guess of about 30 minutes at 15psi on the propane. Once we get a successful pour I’ll detail our entire process from start to finish. Now we just need to work on a proper sand mixture and we’ll be ready to go!

The rest of the progress pics are here in our gallery.

Jim's Crazy Engine!!!

Lots of good stuff in this engine, Brodix heads, DART block, Eagle crank, the list goes on like that for days!!

The crown of this blower engine is Hillborne mechanical injection that has been modified to function as modern EFI! Very cool stuff!!

Jim says he was hoping to make 500 horsepower, but his engine guy is telling him to expect more like 800!!

Pictures of the truck soon!!

Marco sent me an email the other day. He writes:

I’m not sure if you remember me. It is a long time ago we have been comunicating a little. My name’s marco and i’m from switzerland europe. I saw your black charger few years ago, and thought I MUST have a car like this too. So i found a rotted project and you helped me out with some information, know-how tips and links were to find parts. After about 3000hours of work into the car, and around 100T US$ spent to parts and paint, i’m almost done. I thought you as a freak might be interested in my work and my final setup. This weekend i was on a test ride first time, even first time in a mopar ever. And it felt damn good!

I’m an office guy and it was my first restoration, but i gave my best and it came out very well i think. Attached you find some pictures. I hope you enjoy them. It is not finished yet, but winter is coming and still much time left to do that.

To the engine, i’ve built a stroker. It is a 72 charger block 474ci 0.60over, 11.5:1 diamond pistons, eagle H-beam rods, edelbrock heads, crane roller rockers, crower cam, holley race carb, electric holley fuelpump, edelbrock waterpump, flexalite dual fans, hedman ceramic c. headers, 3“ flowmaster pipes, spezial built reverse manual tranny, external b&m oil coolers, msd ignition with billet distributor and and and absolutely everything as been restored. The only thing i want to do is having a second hood with the sixpack scoop. There are different sizes available can you remember which one, and from which manufacturer you did get yours?

Wish you all the best, and hope to hear from you anytime. I like your site, and it helped me pushing my ass to continue with working. Thanks for that.. !! :-D
